Originally native to Japan, they were first collected in the 1850s in Japan. It is a slow-growing evergreen shrub that typically grows to 3 ft (0.9 m) tall and 5 ft (1.5 m) wide over a period of 10 years.[1] Gray-green to dull dark green clusters of soft needles cover them. They are primarily grown and used as decoration, and at one point were a symbol of status in Japan.[2] The Japanese botanical name of the shimpaku juniper is miyama-byakushin. The shimpaku juniper is used as bonsai material and in various gardens, such as rock gardens. You then have the choice to have your item(s) shipped USPS (priority, parcel select, etc.) or UPS. It usually works out cheaper to ship via the Post Office for small to regular sized packages and UPS for larger packages. You can request an invoice prior to payment. Once you’ve made your selections and agreed to purchase, we will see the order. We will then adjust the shipping charges and send a new invoice with the choice of rates for ups and usps. If you would like a shipping quote before you buy, then send a message with the items you’re interested in and your zip code. Plant Hardiness: There are many variables involved in plant hardiness. We use generally accepted cold hardiness zone information for each plant. This does not consider microclimates created by altitude, rainfall or directional location. In any given year temperatures can fluctuate a full zone, up or down. Such factors as lack of snow cover, early or later extremes and protections from mulch or buildings can also have an effect. If you have questions about plant hardiness, we encourage you to contact your local County Extension Office. Warranty/Package/Shipping: We usually ship within a few days after payment is received. If it is going to be a little longer, we will send a message. Delivery confirmation is included in the price of shipping. Plants are not shipped bare root. Our nursery license from the FL Department of Agriculture allows us to ship to all states, excluding CALIFORNIA. We do NOT ship to Hawaii, Puerto Rico or California. All sizes of plants are listed and a picture of the actual plant is usually included in the description. We only package and send out healthy plants. Once the plants are received, they need to be taken out of the boxes immediately and watered, but not left in water. If there is a health problem with a plant upon receipt, we will refund the price you paid for that plant. We reserve the right to request the plant be returned to me prior to issuing the refund, but a digital photo of the damaged plant is appreciated and may forestall the need to return the plant. Plants are sent priority mail or UPS ground, so they stay in boxes the least amount of time. You have three days from the date you received your purchase to notify use of problems. Please note that cosmetic damage may occur naturally from shipping and will not endanger your plant. Bent or broken stems or dirt falling out of a pot do not constitute damage to the plant. Some slight wilting during hot weather is also normal, especially with perennials or annuals. Please be aware that foliage may be trimmed for shipping if that is in the best interest of the plant and at certain times of the year some plants may still be in a dormant state and have no foliage yet. Thanks for looking!
